Cicada Killers
Cicada killers are among the largest wasps found in North America, often reaching up to two inches in length. Despite their fearsome appearance and loud buzzing, they are generally non-aggressive towards humans and rarely sting unless handled roughly.
The females dig extensive, unsightly burrows in bare or sparsely vegetated soil, displacing large amounts of dirt. They hunt cicadas, paralyzing them and dragging them into their burrows to feed their developing larvae.
Eastline Pest Management addresses cicada killers by treating their nesting sites to discourage burrowing and providing guidance on lawn care practices to make your yard less attractive to these massive wasps.
